Purpose

The Mission of Underground Consulting Services Inc. (UCSInc.) is to prevent damage to buried facilities through education, advocacy, public awareness and dependable cost-effective communication between UCSInc and those intending to disturb the ground.

History

The Atlantic Provinces are experiencing large economic growth in both technical and natural gas related industries. UCSInc. has over 50 years of experience locating buried facilities and has seen first hand the advantages of locating before you dig.

System

UCSInc. provides 4 methods of requesting our services in Atlantic Canada:

UCSInc. is primarily concerned with safety. Excavators, whether private home owners or public contractors, reduce the risk of personnel injury and property damage by using our service. Owners and operators of buried facilities reduce the risk of facility damage, service disruption, environmental contamination, loss of product and potential disaster.

By using our locating service there are distinct financial benefits to excavators and the general public. Damage to buried facilities can lead to fatalities, personal injuries, environmental contamination, law suits, repairs, product losses, disruptions of essential services and evacuations. While these all have direct financial costs, the emotional and social costs of fatalities and personal injuries cannot be so coldly determined.

UCSInc. is working in different areas toward the prevention of damage to buried facilities.
